Alejandra worked closely with the legislators by preparing statements, media releases, and press conferences to address and create public awareness of issues related to: transportation, health, education, environment, housing, human rights, commerce, telecommunications, small businesses and employment.
Alejandra’s responsibilities consisted of dealing with the Latino media to pitch stories to reporters, coordinate interviews and provide background information on specific policy issues. She also worked with mainstream media to address legislative initiatives that affected the Latino community.
Since 2003 she has successfully served as a media consultant to the Illinois Senate Democrats, as well as the media relations director of the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation since its inception in 2003. Alejandra’s experience and assertive judgment has allowed her to become a highly respected professional not only among Latino media representatives, but also within the mainstream media.
Alejandra was a pioneer in bringing Chicago area Latino media outlets to Springfield for the first time in the history of Illinois in 2003.
