Common Cause Illinois, a non-partisan organization designed to serve as a catalyst for political change.

Challenge:

• Launch the Fair Elections Illinois Referendum: Voter Power Over Money Power  campaign in Chicago.
• Advocating the establishment of a small donor fund matching campaign finance system, similar to that implemented in New York City.

SOLUTION:

Sí! developed an aggressive media relations campaign to support the grassroots efforts of Common Cause by educating Chicago voters on how the small donor matching system would allow for increased numbers of candidates to run for public office and promote more trust in the democratic electoral process.

RESULTS:

Sí! was able to overcome skepticism and the referendum was approved by 80 percent thereby keeping political power in the hands of the people, and not in the pockets of special interest groups.
